Google Maps

Overview

Allows the user to add a link to, and display a Google Map on the page.  The Map will be centred at a given position and can have headder and footer text.  The user can add markers to provide additional information.

Add a Google Map

 Add the GoogleMaps module to the page

Right click and select Options

Google API Key

To add a map you need an API Key. These are free, but it is specific to your site. 

If you already have one, paste it into the API Key box, after typing in the name of your website:

If you do not have a key, click the link shown and follow the instructions.  Once you have the key paste it in to the API Key box.

This option allow you to add comments above the map and below (or wrapped around the image)

Click Edit Button to add text above or below the map.  Both use the standard editor .

Select from the list what you want to see.  The default is all controls

This defines the centre of the map and the type of map you see when you open the page.  The default is Satellite

Markers

Markers allow you to indicate places of interest, and add additional comments, including pictures about the place marked.

Adding Markers to a Map

To add a marker click

This opens a copy of the map, with a 'dummy' marker in the centre. 

  1. Enter a title at the top of the page
  2. Either drag the marker to the position you want, or
  3. Enter a place name / postcode and click

Editing a Marker

Edit the Google Maps module,, locate the marker you want to edit and change the details

Select the marker on the map and click - a popup will display showing your information
