Website Structure
|
You build up your website by adding pages to it which automatically adds it to the menu.
Modules supply the information or content of the page and control how to display it. For example, the Events module displays a list or calendar of events, the Announcements module shows news items and the HTML module shows standard text and pictures.
There are many different modules you can use but if there isn't one to do just what you want we can create a custom module to meet your exact needs.

User Permissions
|
You set up Security Roles for the different groups of people that will be using the website. You then add each user to all the appropriate Security Roles.
On each page and each module within a page you can decide which Security Roles can see, edit or administer it. This gives you complete control over which users can see what parts of the website.
There is a special Security Role for users who are not logged in. This allows you to give the public one view of the website while logged in users can see something different depending on who they are. You could create an Intranet or Extranet site where registered users can access information specific to them while the public is unaware it exists. Because this works down to module level you can even have the home page with special sections for particular registered users.

Skins & Containers
|
Skins
The skin defines the page layout. It contains all the graphics, text and other objects that make up the design of the page. A skin can be used for the whole website or on as many pages as you want making it easy to give the website a consistent look and feel.
The Content Panes defined within a skin hold the modules which give the content for the page.
Since the skin controls the design of the website you can quickly change the look of the whole site by simply changing the skin.
Containers
Containers are similar to skins but control the design of the modules rather than the page.
You can define the container to be used throughout the site, page or for each module.

Documents, Images and Files
|
Each OctEportal™ website has an upload area where you can store various files for use on the website. These can be images that you want to use on the website, documents for download or any file you want to store or use on the website.
You use the File Manager to upload and look after these files.
You can also upload images on-the-fly when inserting them into a module.
