The Image Manager

Overview

The Image Manager allows you to upload Images, remove images, move them between folders and use the images in your pages.  You access it from within the Text Editor in a module (or RSS Feed Summary), using the File Manager outside a module. There are limits on image sizes and on extensions.  As an administrator you can control which image types are allowed to be uploaded. If you need to upload files which are not images then use its companion the File Manager

Using the Image Manager

Within the editor click  on the toolbar.  The Image Manager dialog will appear

Inserting an Image

Put your cursor at the place you want to insert the image.  Click .  Navigate the list, using the slider at the bottom of the dialog to the file.  Highlight the file.  It should appear in the Preview pane on the right.  Use the 'Best Fit, 'Actual Size', 'Zoom In' and 'Zoom Out' buttons to get a clearer view of the image.  To amend the image itself see Modifying an Image below

Click the 'Properties' Tab to review or change the size and placement fo the image.

Uploading an Image

If the image is not yet on the wbsite (server), Click

For each image you want to upload click the  button.  Check that your image is one of those in the list of allowable extensions and below the maximum size.

If you need to  add more than 3 files click the  button once per additional file. 

We recommend that you tick the Overwrite checkbox.  If the file exists and this is not checked, no files will be uploaded. 

Click to physically copy the files to your website folder.

 Modifying an Image

Select the image from the Image Manager, then Click the  to open the Image Editor.

  • Opacity is fixed at 100%
  • you cannot crop images

Opacity: you cannot modify the opacity. Resize: Drag the slider to enlarge or decrease the image.  Uncheck the 'Constrain' if you want to strech one dimension realtive to the other.  The default is checked.

Enable Crop:  If the image is too large, you can chop out the section you want.  Click  to start cropping.  Drag and resize the crop marquee to select the portion you want:

Cropping an Image the cropped size will be displayed (or you can do type the values in) .

Save modified Image:  To save the image with the same name remove  the _thumb as box - that is mak sure the file name is the same as the original and make sure you tick the 'Overwrite' box, otherwise the image will not be saved.  You can give the image a new name by changing the 'Save As' name.
