Payment Service Providers

Overview

A Payment Service Provider (PSP) collects the money for you from web based orders and pays it into your account.  The PSP handles the security now required for handling credit cards.  Of course there may be times when customers send you cheques, postal orders, or credit card details and you need to do be able to collect and handle the money 'off-line'

In the case of credit card details you MUST do this through your website - in effect you act as proxy for the customer.  OctEPortal NEVER stores the whole card number (the PAN), nor any other details which can identify a card with it's owner.  All the processing is done on the PSP's site.   We embed that page in one of your website pages.  The PSP will normally send you enough details to associate the order with a payment.  OctEportal will collect as much information as it can from the PSP as to success or failure of the transaction

OctePortal allows you to set up multiple PSPs, which can appear in the Checkout page. It is your responsibility to set up an account with the PSP.

Offline Sales is provided by default.

Note: If you want to use a PSP which is not provided by OctEPortal, then please contact your supplier for more details.

It is advisable to test your PSP details before you go live!  Follow the instructions from your PSP as to how to do this.  If you need help, please contact your supplier.
