Page Layouts

The Page Layout controls the appearance of the page in your OctEportal website.

Page Layout

Above is a typical page layout.  The design and style of the page is controlled by the layout which includes content 'panes' (outlined in red above) into which you add your content modules.

This example is a classic 3 column layout but there can be any number of content panes positioned anywhere on the page.

You can have any number of different layouts used throughout your website.  A consistent page layout helps your visitors navigate the website so you assign one layout to be used through out the site by default.  You can then assign different layouts to individual pages.

Adding a Background Image

Normally the Page Layout controls the graphical elements on a page but sometimes it is useful to change the background image on the whole page or in individual content panes.

You can assign a background image to be used on every page in the Site Settings.

You can assign background images to be used in a content pane by uploading a specifically named image file.

To assign the same image to a specific content pane on every page use the filename xxx_bg.jpg. Where xxx is replaced by the name of the content pane.  For example if you want an image to appear in the background of every LeftPane in the website the file name would by LeftPane_bg.jpg.

If you want the background image to appear only on a particular page you use the filename xxx_yyy_bg.jpg.  In this case the yyy is replaced by the Page Id of the page.  (You can find the Page ID at the bottom of Page Settings.).   So if you want an image to appear in the background of the Right Pane only on the products page you would use the filename RightPane_Products_bg.jpg.

As well as JPG images you can also use GIF and PNG.
