Overview

OctEportal provides several standard 'messages' including large tracts of standard text such as the 'Terms of Use'. These messages can be tailored to your own needs, or totally replaced. This function explains how to do this

Managing System Messages

Login with Administrator permissions

Select System-Messages from the Admin menu

Modifying a Message

Select the message name from the list. The full list is similar to this screenshot:

In this example we will use the password reminder message which is emailed when a registered user forgets their password and requests the reminder

The associated message is loaded into the lower panel (Message Value). The message consists of text , and [items in square brackets] or tokens, which will be replaced with their proper value when then message is actually sent.. The full list of these tokens is:

You can re-organise any message using text and tokens.

To save your changes click Update

Undoing changes to a message

If you make a mistake you can restore the original by selecting the message from the list then click Restore Default.

Replacing all Messages.

The contents must be in a specific format. We recommend that you discuss this with OctEportal before you proceed. This is not reversible, except with the assistance of OctEportal, for which you will be charged!
