Text/HTML Module

Overview

This module is where most of the text, images etc. is entered onto your website.  It is likely to occur at least once on each of your pages. The content of this module is edited using the HTML Editor.

The format of the text will be defined by your 'skin', and the associated style sheets. When entering or editing text in this module USE the EDITOR rather than construct the HTML directly.  In 99.9% of situations you will not need to adjust the HTML. Enter your content and save.  The formatting will be done for you via the style sheet (skin).

We suggest that you break up your page into related blocks and use a separate text module for each section

 Using the Module

Entering small units of text

Type in the text directly, see the Content Editor page for more details on the editor functions

Entering large volumes of text

Plain text (recommended): If you have large volumes of text to insert, you can create it in a text editor and paste it into the Content Editor, then format it within the Editor.

Word, or Open Office: create the text then copy and paste into the Content Editor.  However, MS Word tries to impose it's own formats which may conflict with the HTML used in applications such as OctEportal.  As you paste, the editor will identify that you are pasting formatted text and will warn you with the following message:

Clicking OK will clean most of the format, but you will stll be left with some you dont want or didn't expect (change to the HTML tab after pasting):

A paragraph tag was all that was expected, if that!

Which is where the  Format Strip tool comes in useful.  This allows you to clean formats in several ways:
