This extends theText/HTML module so website visitors can add comments to your content.

You can control who is allowed to read or post content as well as designating Moderators who can edit or delete comments made by others.  Unregistered (anonymous) users need to enter a CAPTCHA code in order to post.

Setting Up User Comments

You use the User Comment Manager to enable and manage the settings.  Select this from the module menu.

Options

Show Comments:

Check this box to display User Comment under the main module.

Permissions:

  • View permission determine which security roles  will see the comments. If you do not have permission to view comments you will not even know they exist.
  • Post permission determines whis security roles are alowed to post comments to the website.
    Warning: You should only allow registered users to post comments or you may attract a lot of spam.
  • Moderate permission determines which security roles are allow to moderate or edit other peoples comments.  Normally you are only allowed to edit or delete comments you have posted yourself. You will normally want to designate a moderator to ensure no inappropriate or even illegal comments are posted to the website.

Max Age:

This sets the maximum number of days a comment is visible.
Set this to 0 if you want comments to remain visible for ever.
